In the past few days, Dongmen Community, Olin Tsinghua Community and Meishi Community of Songling Sub-district, Wujiang District, invited calligraphers and calligraphy lovers to write couplets for residents as Spring Festival gifts.
In Dongmen Community, 6 calligraphy lovers wrote spring couplets and the Chinese character “福” (Fu, meaning happiness, blessing and good fortune) for residents. Some children also showed their skills in traditional Chinese calligraphy and the couplets they wrote were highly praised.
Calligraphers were invited to write couplets for residents in Olin Tsinghua Community. The activity was jointly held by the community, the District Development and Reform Commission and the Management Center of Retirees.
“I’ve received free couplets for four or five years,” said a resident surnamed Ding, showing the newly written couplets excitedly. She told reporters that she postponed her trip back to her hometown to attend the activity. “We bring home not only Spring Festival couplets but also joy and happiness,” said a lady surnamed Xu.
Volunteers and students from the calligraphy class of the holiday school of Meishi Community gathered in the neighborhood and wrote couplets for residents. The activity was supported by the District Audit Bureau and the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
