On the morning of Sept. 25, the 2020 Jiangnan Flower Art Exhibition kicked off in Suzhou Botanical Garden. The exhibition features “1+10” theme floral works of Suzhou City and its 10 sections (6 districts and 4 county-level cities) to showcase the vigorous development of Suzhou in the new era. City leaders Li Yaping, Chen Zhenyi, Zhou Weiqiang, Zhu Min, Huang Aijun, Yu Xingnan, Jin Jie and Wu Xiaodong, and Li Ming, secretary of the CPC Wujiang District Committee, attended the opening ceremony.
Wujiang was awarded a grand prize for its theme floral work “Robust Integration” and a gold prize for its floral display “Jiangnan’s Living Room -- Tongli” at the opening ceremony. Meanwhile, the Jianyuan Garden in Tongli Town won the gold medal in the Nicest Suzhou Garden Competition.
The “Robust Integration” floral work is themed on the vigorous development of the demonstration zone showcasing the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. On the left side are sails filled with wind showcasing Wujiang is marching forward courageously. On the right side is a high-speed train standing for the new engine Wujiang has found to drive the high-quality development. In the middle is a golden circle decorated with flowers presenting a capital letter C, which means that Wuiiang is playing a central role in the construction of the demonstration zone. Also there are the green maps of Wujiang, Qingpu, and Jiashan, the three of them being connected by the Taipu River with rolling waves symbolizing that Wujiang rides on the tide of the times and promotes regional integration to a new height. The base of the display is decorated with flowers, representing the bright prospect of the demonstration zone, which is emerging as a great place to live, work and travel in.
The floral work “Jiangnan’s Living Room -- Tongli” shows the beauty and charm of Tongli, an age-old but very well preserved water town with a history of more than 1,000 years. True to its reputation, Tongli is a wonderful travel destination where one can experience the tranquil and leisurely life of local people and traditional Chinese culture.
